The fall season ended with a bang!! An outstanding effort put out there by the boys this past Sunday, a great way to end the season. With a win Berlin clinches first place in the flight, if we win, we finish with a winning record. The game was one of the more physical played this year, but our lads were up to the challenge. A 0-0 game at the half, Coach Kevin instructed the team to stay focused; Berlin will be coming out hard in the first 5 minutes of the half. And hard they did, but the team responded well, kept their heads, played together as a team. A late 2nd half goal was the result of hustle, determination and teamwork.
The final record was 4 wins, 3 losses and 3 ties. Of the 6 that were lost or tied, there was only one game we were out of. In most games, the field was tilted with Marlton attacking the goal. The boys hit cross bars and goal posts in many games, we very easily could have 7 or 8 wins.
With more than half of the players new to the team, this was a season of transition. The boys worked hard throughout the year getting to know each other on the pitch and towards the end of the season, we as coaches could see the difference. They were applying the techniques taught at practice. The team should be proud of what they accomplished this past season and look towards the winter and spring to keep it going.
The winter season will begin in January, for those that are playing. Spring season begins March 3rd, 2012. We will be looking to schedule practices for the spring season, starting the first week in February. Additionally we are looking into getting access to a school gym at some time this winter. Schedules for both will be posted on the site.
A special thanks to Linda & Tom Kelly, who took on the task as team Manager this past year.
