All coaches - head and assistants - must be certified by the Marlton Recreation Council, prior to meeting with their team, and prior to conducting any practices or coaching any games.
All coaches - head and assistants - must submit a background check form, and must be cleared by the Marlton Recreation Council Safety Director prior to meeting with their team, and prior to conducting any practices or coaching any games.
Starting with the fall 2011 season, ages 6 and 7 will play together.
Games are held Saturdays, with the early games starting at 8:30 AM. If Saturday games are canceled due to weather, games may optionally be played on Sundays, with prior approval of the U8 coordinators.
This is a fun league, and a "learning how to play the game properly" league. The emphasis at this age is learning how to play the game, not how to win the game.
Opening Day for U8 is always the first Saturday after Labor Day.
U8 games are 7 v 7 which includes a goalkeeper.
Certified Marlton Soccer referees will be used to enforce the basics of throw-ins, goal and corner kicks, and offsides.
One coach per team is allowed on the field during the game to direct the players.
Goals used 7 feet by 21 feet in size. Field size is 46 yards by 70 yards, with a 6 yard goal area.
Participation trophies are given to everyone.
Practices can be held separate of games under the three activities per week rule (i.e. two practices and one game per week, one practice and two games per week).
Saturday is always game day, with game length 4 x 10 minute quarters.
Coaches may conduct practices starting in the month of August.
For U8 soccer, team standings are not posted, nor do we track game scores or statistics.
Thanks for supporting Marlton Soccer.
