MRC's Lightning Policy

Please note that the Marlton Rec Council Lightning Policy calls for ALL PERSONS to vacate any field or playing surface (outdoors) if THUNDER or LIGHTNING IS Present. 
 
If the field you are on has no detection system as soon as you hear Thunder or see Lightning you need to vacate the field to your automobiles.
 
There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this policy.
 
 

MRC Policy 073103-01 - LIGHTNING DETECTOR SYSTEM

LIGHTNING DETECTOR SYSTEM: The following sites within the Township of

Evesham are equipped with lightning detector systems: Evesboro Downs, Marlton

Crossing, Memorial Complex, Savich Field, Willow Ridge, Kessler Field , and the

Hockey rinks on Lippincott Drive.

EXCEPTIONS - There are no exceptions to this policy.

 

 

b. In addition, a beacon light will be flashing throughout the entire storm. This beacon light will cease to operate thirty (30) minutes after the last strike is detected.

 

The following should be so noted:

a. The lightning detector system measures actual strikes.

b. Do not rely on silence to mean there are no hazardous conditions of play!

c. If weather conditions or common sense tells you that conditions are hazardous take appropriate actions to ensure safety.

 

 

Non-Compliance by MRC Coaches, Coordinators, etc. of the aforementioned will result in a one (1) year suspension from all sports & privileges associated with the MRC while serving said suspension

In the event of hazardous weather conditions the following should take place at the above sites: a. A Hi-Lo alarm will sound for approximately twenty (20) seconds indicating hazardous conditions within a five-ten mile radius. At such time, appropriate action by MRC coaches, coordinators, etc. must be taken to vacate the field of play immediately. c. Finally, when hazardous weather has cleared, an all clear siren will sound at which time MRC coaches, coordinators, etc. can resume play; depending on field conditions at that time. d. THIS SYSTEM IS NOT AN ABSOLUTE PROTECTION AGAINST HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS.
